Thanksgiving in Munich

Being in a foreign country presented some unforeseen challenges to the traditional American Thanksgiving cuisine: there is no gravy magic to be found here, pie pans are weird shapes, a can of Campbell's soup costs three euros, only Hong Kong Market carries fried onions, pumpkin in a can doesn't seem to exist, but Lynn perservered despite all of these obstacles as she spent her last day in her apartment in Munich cooking for us. I helped with potatoes and green bean casserole, but Lynn did all the hard jobs. Most impressively, she twisted the neck off the turkey so he wasn't smiling at us later. She's a bad mamajama. She even shared her fancy wine and made this really spectacular brie and cranberry pastry bake. Heads up that I'm going to make this at every future party I'm invited to. Don't everyone call me at once.
Thanks so much Lynn for making us such a lovely Thanksgiving dinner!
I hope the Hard Rock Cafe does not feel slighted that I failed to acknowledge that they too provided a Thanksgiving dinner the previous night.  I opted for a margarita instead though as fellow Americans seemed unimpressed with their endeavor.
