Hallstatt is the neatest place I'd never heard of. It's located in the Salzkammergut (I think this translates to salt chamber good) region of upper Austria. And the region is aptly named, as there are salt mines, and you can even wear miner clothes and slide down them. And I kind of wanted to, but instead we just strolled around and way above this little town of about 1,000 people.
