Our final and favorite weekend hike was a 13 miler starting with a train ride to Walenstadt, a stunning little town on the east side of the alpine lake where we saw this display of yard art. charming or creepy?
From this town, the hike took us up and down a series of hills for stunning views of the clear, turquoise water,
to sweet little towns accessible only by foot or boat,
past cute beaches,
by a couple pretty churches,
through vineyards,
by waterfalls,
and in one spot, past boat free skiing. How neat is that dad? They ski rope is just attached to an overhead cable system that whips the skiier back and forth.
The most intense part of the hike was the last ten minutes that we had to sprint to catch our train back to Zurich from Weesen. We made it, but we were so grimy and sweat drenched, the seats next to ours were the very last to be spoken for.

I am going to vote for creepy on the yard art. Maybe you were supposed to help yourself to a yard trinket and take pictures with it in various parts of the world. The rest of the trip looked amazing!!!
thanks lou, i think it might be the bondage gnomes that push it into creepy status. maybe i was supposed to help myself to one in the name of travel. love you!
