Our travels this weekend brought us to the seaside town of Eastbourne where we hiked the white cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. We tackled this in one excellent day trip, waking up kind of early to take the 8:47 train and hour and a half from Victoria Station to our starting point.
The day started a bit cool and hazy, great weather for hiking but not so much for views or pictures.
By the time we got to Beachy Head though, the sun was in full force, and there was a neat cloudline behind the cliff like you might see from an airplane. It was a stunning sight.
And some nice lady took our picture. That's why this one isn't my usual lopsided autotimed keepsake.
I had high hopes of hiking all the way to Seaford, over 13 miles away, and taking a return train from there, but my steam fell short. I noticed how crispy my neck was just before we got to the Seven Sisters, and we called it a day soon after Birling Gap. And with super long summer days, we even had some daylight left after we got home for barbecuing. We're using the firewire Guy and Christine so thoughtfully gave us. It's a shishkabob revolution.
